Well today is Valentine’s Day, the holiday that most couples enjoy and singles prefer not to mention. All you singles, I suggest you spoil yourself today, buy a box of chocolates, and indulge as you read this article on the Do’s and Don’ts of Twitter-Dating.

How to Date on Twitter Part I covered the top 5 most popular dating sites for Twitter and a brief description of each to get you started. For those of you who are new to the Twitter-dating game and haven’t really figured out what it’s all about or have been too shy to initiate the first tweet, here is a list of the do’s and don’ts of Twitter-Dating etiquette.

DO: Jazz up your profile! Take down the picture of your cat and add a picture that you truly feel confident in. Posting a picture of yourself will show other Tweeters that there is a real person behind your tweets, making it more personable.

DON’T: Tweet about your past relationship blunders, no one wants to hear about your ex’s baggage. Take the high road, move on to bigger and better things because after all, life goes on.

DO: If a certain Tweeter’s tweets catch your eye more than once, don’t be shy, RT them and reply to their post by complimenting them on their witty or thoughtful tweets. If you are really feeling bold, you may even want to send them a direct message.

DON’T: Tweet to your crush while intoxicated. Enough said.

DO: Tweet with relevant thoughts in mind. No crush wants to hear what you are doing every minute of every day. Always use your 140 characters wisely.

DON’T: Bombard your crush with multiple love tweets at a time. This can often look like an act of desperation. Take your time, get to know one another and maintain a sense of mystery.

There you have it single Tweeters, the inside scoop on the Do’s and Don’ts of Twitter-dating. Now finish that box of chocolates and get tweeting!

Happy Valentine’s Day.
